Lumbar Discectomy

It is a surgery to remove a degenerative disc in lower spine. The cut is made from back muscles, to remove the disc pressing on nerve.  The surgery is recommended only if the physical therapy fail to relieve pain. The surgery is performed in two ways- open or minimally invasive technique.

Who need surgery?

·         Weakness.

·         Not improving with physical therapy.

·         Tests showing herniated disc.

Post-Surgery:

·         Pain medications according to the surgeon.

·         Use ice to reduce pain and swelling.

·         Avoid bending, lifting and twisting the back for 2-3 weeks.

·         Do not smoke and drink.
