artery bypass grafting is the surgery for improving blood flow to your heart.
CABG is used to treat people who is having severe coronary heart disease (CHD).
CHD
is a disease in which a thick fluid called as plaque forms inside the coronary
arteries. These supply oxygen-rich blood to heart.

TYPES
There
are three types of CABG surgery-
Traditional Coronary Artery Bypass
Grafting- This surgery is required when only one major artery need to be
bypassed. Chest bone is in open condition during the surgery. Drugs are given
prior to stop the heart, the heart-lung bypass machine keep the blood and
oxygen moving during the surgery. After the surgery, the blood flow is
restored.
Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting- It is similar to traditional CABG. The chest bone is opened but the heart is not stopped, heart-lung machine is not used. Off-pump CABG is also called as beating heart bypass grafting.
Minimally Invasive Direct CoronaryArtery Bypass Grafting- In this type of surgery, various small cuts are made on
left side of chest between ribs. This is mostly used to bypass the blood
vessels at front of heart.
RISKS
There
are various risks in CABG surgery which includes
